"There are millions of fish in the ocean, and I got lucky enough to catch you." "So how does it work" Reef asked Brushing against Tetra.
"Well it moves with me and keeps me stable. It only has basic movements though." She replied looking down at her brand new prosthetic leg. Tetra and Reef have been incepriable ever since Tetra was born despite Reef being a few months older. Reef's mother told him about her close friend who had a litter of one pup who was missing her front left leg. Quickly he became curious and when he met young Tetra, they immediately became best friends. For months he helped the young pup learn how to walk and play like any other pup. "Can you swim with it" Reef asked. Tetra flexed her plexiglass leg, "Have yet to try." Reef bumped into her shoulder and flashed a huge smile, "let's try!" He said as they took their first steps onto the wet sand of the beach. The beach was rather tame, no mile high waves, the water was clean and not to cold. "Me? Try? Bad idea, I'll just watch you swim like we always have." Tetra said stepping back, avoiding letting her prosthetic touch the water. "Fine" Reef snorted, running off into the water and slamming his paws down hard allowing water to splash up at Tetra. She shook off the saltwater from her coat and glared at Reef for getting her wet. Reef jumped in, front paws first and completely submerged himself into the ocean making an extra effort to make Tetra jealous. Tetra huffed and turned away, finding a dry and warm patch of sand farther up the beach. Reef ran out of the water and flew into the sand next to his friend, spewing sand all over her, "Stop it!" She shouted. "Now you are covered in mud and sand, better come wash off!" He teased. She got up and went to the water's edge, first dipping her right front leg in before taking a step with her prosthetic leg. Reef ran past her, spacing water as he dove back ingot he water, "Come on!" He shouted. "Shut up I'm coming" Tetra took a few more steps in, allowing the water to brush against her stomach. Reef Swam up next to her and nuzzled her neck, "I'm here for you. Just try." She puled away from him and took a few more steps in the water. Reef ran past her, gliding his scaly tail along her back. Tetra walked forward until her belly was just about to touch the water. "Deeper!" Reef chanted with a huge grin. Tetra unexpectedly caught a small wave that pushed her just far enough out into the water to where should couldn't touch the sand. In a panic she splashed around as if she was about to drown. Reef swan right up next to her, "Calm down Tetra!" he said, building her to a slightly shallow part. "I can't do it." She said with a crack to her voice. "Tetra, you have already accomplished so much in your life without that leg. You can do this. You are strong enough, both physically and mentally." He reassured her. That was the good thing about Reef, he always new what to say to Tetra. In every situation he knew what she needed to hear. Tetra gave it one more shot and walked deeper into the water, when her paws no longer touched the ground the franticly dog paddled. He prosthetic leg was working perfectly. Allowing her to stay afloat without any panic. Reef jumped in next to her and dove under water, coming up for air right in front of Tetra. "I'm swimming!" She shouted and put her front two paws in Reef's shoulders. Reef kicked his back paws extra hard to keep the two afloat, "I knew you'd be great at it!" Tetra flashed a big smile and licked Reef's muzzle, "thank you so much" She said. "What was that for?" Reef said inference to her affection. "For everything." She said as the water pulled out, allowing them to regain their stance with their paws on in the sand.
